The construction sector contributes substantially to global greenhouse gas emissions, primarily carbon dioxide.
According to the Global Status Report, buildings and construction together account for 36% of global final energy use. They also account for 39% of energy-related carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions when you include upstream power generation.
Recent procurement requirements for carbon reduction in infrastructure projects now affect bidders directly. As part of a Full Lifecycle Assessment, bidders must consider the carbon emissions linked to their choice of machinery/processes during the Bidding Stage. In addition, they must account for the embodied carbon of materials and geomaterials.
For this reason, an Embodied Carbon Calculator (EC3) within ProjectVIEW ERP will assist in selecting materials and associated processes. It will calculate the CO2 emissions linked to the production, manufacturing, assembly, and ultimate disposal of each material.
ProjectVIEW ERP v.12 will include an embodied materials carbon calculator and a process carbon estimator. As a result, teams will calculate the percentage reduction in the carbon footprint for each project. They will also get metrics for overall cost and environmental efficiency. In short, this new feature will help ensure compliance with most upcoming tendering terms from international organizations and governments.
The future of Construction is ZERO CARBON.
